The ADAA's New Contractor

The ADAA's New Contractor Stuart Fleming
Well, I have been the ADAA contractor for a few weeks now so I thought it was time to let you know a wee bit about myself!
I come from a family of anglers, my dad Alec Fleming and my brother would go fishing at every opportunity and at the age of 13 I caught my first salmon at the Cothal on a garden fly but then, didn't’t we all! I became the owner of the coveted “green book” joining as a junior around 1971(ish).
She who must be obeyed is Julia, who is also involved with membership details, casting lesson and fishing bookings. We have a daughter Lesley, a non angler but never mind casting lessons have been taken?
I originally served my time as a plumber and went offshore in 1984 which, as you offshore guys will know, left me lots of time on the beach to fish!
My angling fanaticism was noted by Alastair Hume and Duncan Wilson about six years ago and I was “head-hunted” to join the ADAA Committee, initially as Convener of Garthdee but subsequently for Banchory Devenick as well. I’m also on two Sub Committees, one that considers the ADAA strategy and also our entertainment Committee.
In these capacities I have enjoyed putting in time helping arrange the Vision day, sea fishing trips and hatchery visits, all great days out!
The issue of having an unreliable contractor last year made me start thinking about applying myself as I have always enjoyed working outdoors and to be beside the water, even better!
In association with the works Convener, Alec and the other Conveners a work program has been developed and I have begun the backlog of repairs etc needed but hope to progress bank improvements in due course.
Hope to see you all on the riverbank, tight lines!
