Vision Day

Aberdeen & District Angling Association committee would like to thank everyone who attended and helped out at the associations 'Vision Day' held at the bothy on Sunday 7th June 2009.

A huge thanks to Jim Fearne and Willie Banks two great supporters of the ADAA, who provided some great demos and some invaluable tips and advice and gave out a few casting lessons on the day.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed this and managed to glean some useful info on the day.

Chris Western who tied a fully dressed fly without a vice and with only a candle for light. We did offer to put 10p in the meter.....lol
Phil Glendinning of Dee Salmon Flies who tied the more common salmon flys in use today, e.g monkeys, cascades and Mike Townend who once again tied fully dressed salmon flies but with the use of electric light and all mod cons! These three guys are brilliant at their art and a great wealth of information.

Look out for a masterclass by Phil and the boys to be arranged soon. It would be great to know how much interest there would be for this type of event before we get something arranged to know how big a venue we need.

E-mail your names to TheFlemingsadaa@googlemail.com and we'll get in touch. Also let us know if you are a beginner, intermediate or an expert!

Thanks to Rab Stephens for once again lending us the microphones to ensure we can actually hear what Willie and Jim are telling us.
Thanks to John Jamieson for the countless teas, coffees and juices provided on the day.
The wife, Julia for doing the bacon & sausage sarnies.
Austin for getting our banner done for us.
Graham for salvaging the picnic bench which was well used yesterday and is soon to be placed on a beat, watch this space.

Also thanks goes to the following although their donations weren't used on the day. Richard for donating his left over fencing to us, this is ear marked for another future project and Davie for the Printer paper and net for the trailer.

Every little helps, if you have something that you think could be used somewhere on the Association beats or at the bothy, please get in touch.
