Lexus Team European Finalists
Aberdeen and District Angling Association has successfully qualified for the final of the Lexus Team European Flyfishing Championships to be held at Rutland Water on 9th and 10th September.
The team consisting of Mike Cordiner, Richard McHattie, Ernie McKay, Kenny Riddell and Jason Brown managed to land 33 fish at the Lake of Menteith, finishing in the second qualifying position ahead of some very accomplished teams.
Top rod on the day was Richard who landed 12 rainbows on dry flies, with Kenny capturing the heaviest fish of the day at 3lb 2ozs.
This has been an exceptional year so far for the club with a semi-final place already secured in the National Scottish Cubs competition with Ernie McKay qualifying through this to the Champion of Champions.
Richard McHattie will be competing in the Scottish National River Final on the Tweed this month (August) and Mike Cordiner takes part in the Scottish National Loch Final at Menteith in September. Mike recently competed in the Scotland team qualifier for the World Championships next year finishing in 9th place out of a field of twenty one internationals, narrowly missing out in a top six qualifying place.
The club has also got four anglers through to the SANA Open Final, which the pairing of Kenny Riddell and Ernie McKay won last year.
