Whiskey Tasting Event

Whisky Tasting Event

Thursday September 3rd 2009, 7:30 pm at The Potarch Hotel

As a celebration of the new partnership between The River Dee Trust and Whyte & Mackay, the “Dee Dram” is being introduced.

To that end the River Dee Trust is holding a Whisky Tasting event to find the perfect whisky which captures both the beauty and spirit of the Dee. We need your help and would like you to join us on Thursday September 3rd 2009 at 7.30 pm at the Potarch Hotel, Ballogie to take part in a blind tasting and subsequent vote to determine the best whisky to be used for the “Dee Dram”. The chosen dram will be put into production by Whyte & Mackay on behalf of the River Dee Trust and sold internationally as the “River Dee Whisky”. All profits from this new enterprise will go directly to the River Dee Trust to aid the restoration of the River.

Whyte & Mackay’s world class distillers and master blenders will be coming along to guide us through the whisky creation and blending process. You will have a unique opportunity to sample the full range of Whyte & Mackay products, and learn everything you have ever wanted to know about the wonderful world of whisky! Special preferential buying rates are available should you wish to purchase any of the products you have tried.

Renowned local artist Howard Butterworth is currently painting a scene of the Dee to capture the essence of the River. This will form the basis of the label so that the whisky truly is unique to the Dee valley.

Minibuses will be available from the Burnett Arms, Banchory and The Huntly Arms, Aboyne departing for Potarch at 7:15 pm and returning at 10:00 pm. Please RSVP to info@riverdee.org by 28th August to confirm your attendance and/or book a seat on the bus. Alternatively, call the River Office directly on 013398 80411.
