ADAA Junior Day
A great day was had by all those that turned up to the Junior Day at Parkhill Fishery.
Ages ranged from 5 up to 17 all with mixed experience and ability.
The day started off with sorting the youngsters into groups depending on their capability and the better casters were given a short casting clinic with Willie Banks. During this session Mike Cordiner did some basic knot tying with the younger ones with some of the adults picking up a few tips
Next on the agenda from Mike was the figure-of-eight retrieve which most of the children got the hang of after a little practice but Mike did find it harder with the left handers.
Kenny Riddell then took out a couple on the boat and they successfully landed a few on small buzzers. The fish were safely released back to the loch.
The second boat then went out with Mike and another two juniors and they only managed to tempt one fish but it was a beauty of about 5 ½ lb.

Nicky Taylor helped give advice at the casting platforms and he also assisted on the boat in the afternoon.
The weather was very changeable and varied between sunshine and blue skies to hailstones and cold wind but this didn’t seem to spoil the fun. A BBQ served up by Stuart and Julia Fleming kept everyone’s spirits up.
After lunch Willie continued giving casting lessons and all the children received his expert tuition.
Most of the youngsters got out on the boats but unfortunately the fish did seem to go off the take in the afternoon.
Overall the day was a great success with the children learning lots of new tips and improving their casting.
